LWG Shortlisted for 2025 ARIDO Award – Canadian Commercial Corporation

We’re thrilled to share that our Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) Headquarters project was shortlisted for a 2025 ARIDO Award in the Work category — one of the most competitive categories in the program. While we didn’t win, this recognition celebrates the collaborative effort between LWG, CCC, and our project partners in creating a workplace that reflects both Canadian diplomacy and global connectivity. The new headquarters brings together hospitality-inspired design, flexible planning, and thoughtful detailing to create a space that feels refined, welcoming, and distinctly Canadian.

Designing a Modern Diplomatic Workplace

The CCC headquarters was designed to embody the organization’s dual identity: a federal agency representing Canada internationally, and a modern, people-centered workplace for its Ottawa-based team. The design balances quiet sophistication with warmth — a space where Canadian modesty meets global polish.

Every element, from the custom coffered acoustic ceiling to the layered lighting and tactile finishes, was chosen to support CCC’s mission of connection, collaboration, and credibility. The result is a work environment that feels elevated yet approachable — more hospitality than hierarchy.

Project Highlights

1. Central Gathering Space
At the heart of the workplace is a flexible commons that unites the team. The area can host all-staff meetings for over 100 people, or shift seamlessly into breakout and event mode with modular red seating and operable partitions. It’s both a workplace hub and a stage for CCC’s diplomatic role.

2. Hospitality-Infused Design
The staff lounge, framed by chainmail drapery, warm wood accents, and custom red glass pendants, reimagines the government office as a place of care and connection. Spaces are designed for people to pause, recharge, and connect informally.

3. Flexibility and Future-Readiness
From movable workstations to adaptable meeting rooms, flexibility drives the layout. CCC’s mobile-first culture is supported by digital wayfinding and reconfigurable furniture — ensuring the workplace can evolve with the organization.

4. Inclusivity and Well-Being
Daylight access, acoustic zoning, and universal accessibility are integrated throughout. The result is a workplace that feels intuitive, equitable, and comfortable for all users. Every choice — from material palette to circulation — reinforces ease, dignity, and belonging.

5. Diplomatic Dignity
Refined millwork, Canadian art, and neutral tones project a sense of quiet confidence — professional and polished without pretense. It’s a space that speaks softly but carries global significance.

Recognition of Design Excellence

Being shortlisted for an ARIDO Award affirms LWG’s ongoing commitment to creating workplaces that inspire connection, enhance well-being, and reflect the unique values of our clients.

Congratulations to the entire project team — including CCC, Ark Construction, R.J. McKee (Sylvain Chenier, Mechanical; Brian Thornhill, Electrical), and photographer Kevin Belanger — for their collaboration and creativity in bringing this vision to life.
